The arrival of life is always seen as a moment of hope and a new beginning. But sometimes things don’t happen as planned, and even nature needs a helping hand! This was the case with a mama cat who was struggling hard to give birth to her babies.
Recently, one of ACAE Delhi's volunteers came across a mother in absolute distress, meowing and pacing around, trying to find a comfortable position to give birth to her kittens. She had just delivered a kitten and was trying to deliver a second baby. Unfortunately, the baby was stuck upside down, making it impossible for her to deliver.
The ACAE volunteer could see that the mama cat was in great pain and was getting weaker with every passing minute. He knew he had to help her and do it immediately. He decided to manually deliver the kitten. The mama delivered the kitten, but the little one was lifeless. The volunteer gave everything in his power to save the kitten; He tried administering CPR and rubbed the baby gently to give some warmth. But sadly, that was not enough.
Despite the heartache of losing a precious little life, the volunteer remained steadfast, as the mama was in the process of delivering her third baby. He continued to support the mama. After a few tense moments, the mama finally delivered a healthy kitten - her third baby.
Thanks to the volunteer’s quick thinking and kind-hearted approach, the mama and her two babies and safe and in sound health.
ACAE is grateful to have played a part in helping a mom bring a new life into this world, though the loss of a baby still weighs heavily in our hearts. Nonetheless, we take comfort in the fact that we were able to script the safe arrival of the remaining two babies.
It was indeed a new beginning - a precious, tender moment, one that required love, care and attention.
